The Bars
- How long do the bars last?
- Five weeks of daily use, by hand washing. The longer cure gives a dense crystal structure, so each bar shrinks slower than syndet competitors. Store dry on a wooden dish between uses for the best life.
- Why eight weeks of cure?
- At week four a cold-process bar is technically usable but soft and sharp. By week eight, water content has dropped to ~6%, the soap crystals have tightened, the scent has matured, and the skin feel is dense and creamy. See The Bench for the full week-by-week timeline.
- Are they for sensitive skin?
- Yes. We do not use synthetic fragrances, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, palm oil, or filler. Each bar is anchored with real benzoin and frankincense — natural fixatives, not synthetic dupes. If you have a tree-nut allergy please email us before ordering — coconut oil is present in every bar.
- How are the bars different from each other?
- Seven bars across three scent worlds. Bois et Fumée is woody and balsam-led. Marée et Mer is aquatic and mineral. Velours et Cuir is gourmand and resinous. The Atlas maps each bar to its world, and the Character quiz asks four sensory questions to recommend one.
Ingredients & Sourcing
- Where do the ingredients come from?
- Grass-fed Midwestern tallow, pomace olive oil, refined coconut oil from organic farms, fair-trade unrefined shea, and botanical essential oils from named suppliers. Every essential oil arrives with GC/MS testing.
- Why tallow?
- Tallow's fatty-acid profile is the closest oil to human sebum — it conditions skin without stripping it. We use only grass-fed, grass-finished tallow rendered for skincare, not food processing.
- What's NOT in the bars?
- No palm oil. No phthalates. No synthetic fragrance. No SLS/SLES. No EDTA. No filler. No urgency.
Orders & Shipping
- Where do you ship?
- Currently the United States only. We ship Monday through Wednesday from New York via USPS. Free shipping on orders over $50. Standard shipping $6 flat below that.
- How long until I receive my order?
- Orders placed by Tuesday usually arrive by Saturday. We never overpromise; we'd rather under-promise and have you delighted than the opposite.
- Can I return a bar?
- Unopened, unused bars within 14 days for a full refund — email bonjour@vamoure.com first. We can't accept returns on opened bars for hygiene reasons. If a bar arrives damaged, send a photo and we'll replace it.
- Do you ship internationally?
